While purchasing Jasmine essential oil or absolute, one needs to read the label to understand the extraction method. It is important to ask for the extraction method if the label does not say it. Since Jasmine oil, unlike other oils, is not pressed or distilled, it has a certain procedure that should be trailed.
As I have mentioned above, jasmine flowers are soaked in odourless plant or animal fat. After completion of endorsed soaking, alcohol is added to separate the oil from the fat. Then the alcohol is let to evaporate – leaving the potent oil behind.
However, many companies do not follow the strict regime of alcohol evaporation and do not indicate this process on the label. When alcohol is not evaporated properly, it can give a mixed reaction when blended with a carrier oil.
doTERRA jasmine essential oil is extracted by monitoring a strict regime, and it contains no traces of alcohol. The company makes sure that all the alcohol is evaporated, and tests to see if it is safe to use.
